Second year of my dad's passing today. Will never recover from losing him and in such an undignified way. My dad Alan Triggs passed away at Camelot today 2019. I feel sad to say that we feel very let down by this home. Later on in his stay, when he became very sleepy and unresponsive and they finally became aware that he had had a stroke, no immediate medical attention was sought and he eventually went on to have a further stroke. He was left sitting in a chair for hours, when stroke patients should be laying down. The manager even commented how good he looked today. We were very surprised by this, as the stroke had left him paralysed on one side. He was clammy and limp. The day of his passing, we were called to attend the home where we were asked by a head staff member what funeral home did we want. At this point, they hadn't even told us that he was dying. When my sister cried, this staff member seemed quite surprised by this. When we finally went to dad's room, he was in a deep sleep and was in there alone with just the TV on. We were told that someone would be with him at this time. We then had constant interruptions of other residents freely walking in and out of his room, going through his belongings. A staff member even brought him his dinner and when we told him that he didn't need this as he was dying, he looked very surprised. The whole situation was most upsetting and has scarred us tremendously. Dad passed later that night. I wish to God that we had removed him from there. Our gut feeling was telling us that this was not the right place for him but was convinced by the manager to give it a go but we were right. Dad meant the world to us and the heartache of losing him is indescribable and has made our lives quite empty. Shortly after, mum became very ill and nearly died. Doctors believe this could've been due to the shock. Camelot looks good on the outside but search deeper on the inside, to make sure this is right for you.

What a wonderful place Camelot is, my Mum has been here since June 2019, all the staff are so caring and kind to mum and all the family. The activities the residents are able to enjoy are so varied, stimulating and fun, which mum seems to really enjoy. I would certainly recommend Camelot to anyone looking for a caring home.

My mum has been living at Camelot since May 2019. The staff are so kind and caring to my mum and my family. The residents are constantly stimulated by the amazing activities team. Camelot has a Facebook page which I look at everyday to see what my mum has been doing. Mum appears very happy there. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a placement for their relative to go and have a look. I know that we have made the right choice. Della Carpenter
