Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 6 years ago. During the past year she had been getting weaker and frailer and eventually went off her legs in March, which led to her fracturing her hip. Following a hospital stay and a period of rehabilitation our Mum was discharged home for one month. It soon came apparent to us, her family after carinng for her 24/7, that we needed a nursing home for respite so that we could take time to discuss long term care for our lovely mum .Hilltop Lodge was our chosen nursing home to deliver this respite. Mum was there for 5 weeks, in which time the staff at Hilltop Lodge treated mum with respect and the utmost of dignity. Mum wasn't an easy going resident proving at times to be of challenging behaviour. Annette Lewis and her staff of carers saw our real mum through all of this and managed the challenges with care and patience, coming through the other end 5 weeks later with mum happier and more settled. Unfortunately mum needed an EMI/Nursing placement with high dependency. Today it broke mum's heart and ours to move to her permanent placement . We, her family want to thank Hiiltop Lodge for the time and patience in caring for our Mum. The wonderful carers who took time to get to know mum and care for her will never be forgotten. A truly caring and compassionate nursing home, which I would highly recommend for your loved ones. Thank you
