Ive been buying great quality shoes from Basil Powell for longer than twenty years. Currently on my sixth pair of Ecco Track shoes, comfortable, tough and water resistant - great for dog walking. Nicely attentive people in the shopand dogs are allowed in!

Popped in to purchase a pair of Ecco walking shoes. Bloke (cannot call him gentleman) finally approached me. I asked for a size 35. They did not stock. I asked for a size 36 in anything similar. Advised abruptly they only stock size 4 and above and could not help. Woman (again could not call lady) told me to go out of the door in a particular direction. I regularly pay 200 for shoes in order to obtain small sizes. The two of them obviously thought in their own privileged world that I could not afford their shoes. Be warned you obviously have to fit an image to spend money at Basil Powell shoes.

Lovely shop, great looking shoes. I originally called in as I saw a bag in the window. When I asked about it, she wasn't very forth coming. Didn't offer to show it me. Then I saw all the beautiful shoes, as names I like due to quality( oruginally thought it was all Eco).Would have been happy to spend some serious money, but a member of staff, tall, demeaner very snooty, not at all helpful. ( caught her looking me up and down and looking at my footwear).Even when I said I have difficulty getting shoes on due to an ankle problem, did not offer any assistance. So I just left . There were no other customers, then one other, but she wasn't busy. Appeared that another member of staff( must have been sorting stock) brought stock in, she was laying bags out and seemed very pleasant but by that time, the humiliation of attempting to get a shoe on drove me out of the shop. Prob would have bought 2 bags and 2/ 3 pairs of shoes/ boots 300 easily. I'll go where staff are friendly.
