Brilliant location, friendly atmosphere and a good variety of activities on offer. Special shout out to staff Tom, Michael and Laura and the house band. Fantastic time!!

Unfortunately there was a massive oversight in setting up camp elwood. There was no working freezer for our duration of stay. It hadn't been installed soin enough and my freezer blocks never froze. I lost all my fridge contents.

There were some elements about Camp Elwood that were good but our visit was mostly underwhelming. Not a bad enough experience to complain, but came away feeling slightly disappointed. Hopefully, as a first event the organisers will have plenty to take away to improve future versions. The deluxe bell tent was not worth the money over a standard bell tent - the only difference being the bedding and electricity. The bed itself was woefully uncomfortable, a plywood board balanced on a metal frame with a thin piece of foam on top. (It was tiny as well as too short for my boyfriend's legs.) We asked whether we could use one of the spare airbeds but we were not allowed. There were definitely not enough toilets or showers - 24 showers for the entire camp! While there was never a queue, they did not feel very clean considering how many people were using them. There were 6 toilets for the bell tent area which were very smelly and unpleasant to use. Again, considering we had paid extra for a deluxe experience, my stomach sank every time we needed to use them. There were only three food outlets (and not many vegetarian options). On the first night we queued for an hour for two pints at the bar and for genuinely the worst ever mac and cheese we have ever had. The queues became better throughout the week but we did not eat from the outlets after this as the experience was so disappointing. The atmosphere at the camp itself was great, staff was friendly and it was lovely to hear live bands in the main area. Disappointed with the underwhelming sports facilities - we were excited to play softball but you needed to pay a deposit for the equipment and obviously as a couple, we would not be able to play a full game of softball alone! Would have definitely been interested in signing up for organised games. The free crafts also became too busy to join too. This has so much potential to be a great event and I hope that the organisers are able to scale everything up and learn from their pilot!
