What an amazing Special place to stay. If you are seeking a bolthole accommodation away from the hustle & bustle of busy city living, in a Vintage styled cottage, then this is for you. Nestled in a tranquil wooded valley, away from busy roads. It was just Perfect for walking & chilling out. Log fire, hot bath, huge DVD library & a lovely thatched pub, within walking distance, all ensured a very memorable & enjoyable stay.

Weatherall cottage is something very special. Ok so this cottage might not be to everyones taste. But having rented plenty of cottages I can say that with confidence. Ok so its almost off-grid - no mobile phone signal and only a landline and basic TV - but what it does give you is the chance to switch off and relax. The morning light is warm and enriching and the way the house feels almost like a tree house as it glimpses over the treetops is magical. A great place to switch off and de-stress for sure. The pub up the road is brilliant. Great food and hospitality and a bolt hole for a rainy day. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of hot water. Ok so the kitchen is basic. But then thats part of the charm too. It feels like youre a welcome guest in someones home - and you feel like you belong there unlike other places where you fee like a paying guest. Ok it wont suit everyone. Especially if youre highly strung. But Il be sure to return soon.

To be fair it could have improved since June 2018. The impression (unkind though it may sound) is that an elderly relative dies and the family decided to rent out their home as a holiday cottage. The bathroom is the best feature. It is new and clean. The rest of the cottage is run down and grubby, the furniture is old rather than antique and the kitchen is as it would have been in the 1940s with the addition of a modern fridge and an electric cooker. The old Aga is still there but didnt appear to have been cleaned. Every time we lifted up a mug or bit of crockery there was a musty smell so we washed everything before using it. The kitchen furniture was beyond eccentric! The furniture in the living/dining room was weird as was the layout. Chairs and sofa covered in throws to disguise the state of what was underneath. The garden should not be described as such. It was a steep bank, covered in aggressive undergrowth and access to the stream would be hazardous. We didnt try to get to it. The parking describes is actually a passing place and the locals got very cross when we left a vehicle there. Our car alarm went off two nights running so we left our cars up by the church. It was so grim that we left after three days and came home.
