Took a picture of my late grandfather in his WW1 uniform for them to keep, they were very grateful

This is quite a small museum but it is nevertheless a fascinating place. There is a diverse range of artefacts and exhibits from local, civic and military history through to the early bronze age and excavated implements from the Roman era. An incredibly helpful and knowledgeable member of staff kindly offered to accompany us and gave us a guided tour. The museum is in 3 rooms, 2 of which are up a flight of stairs but there is a stair lift for anyone who needs assistance. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Brilliant museum. Interesting and talented guide. Metal detector friendly. Dedicated staff. Fascinating local items displayed. This is what a small town museum should be like
