Dogs Friendly? "Noooooo!" We have been meaning to try out the Caribbean food here for a while as we are big fans. Hearing that the Luckystar/Packhorse was facing some challenges and being my birthday weekend, I called in advance to check they were dog friendly, the food serving times and whether we needed to book. The friendly male voice told me that dogs were welcome, serving until 11pm and there was no need to book. All good so far. We arrived with our dog to be greeted with a "Nooooo!" by the female bar staff on seeing us and our small dog. It was quite the welcome!! I explained that I had telephoned and checked in advance, but our grumpy woman was having none of it. Apparently was her nieces husband who answered and they were definitely not dog friendly... or human friendly from our experience! There was no apology for the misunderstanding, no further explanation or help, just unnecessary rudeness. We left and instead had a fabulous meal at the curry house in nearby Markyate.

If I could give more stars I would. Had a wonderful evening at the Lucky star in Dunstable. Fabulous food, atmosphere and great music. Everyone is so friendly and inviting. What a find, would definitely recommend this place for the fabulous, authentic Caribbean food and all local too. Cant wait to visit again.

Visited today for lunch. Full Menu was not available but they said there was jerk chicken or oxtail Fine by us as we often eat Caribbean food with friends so like both. We chose this place based on the reviews on here and the lack of caribbean eateries in the local area. The guy that greeted us initially was friendly and explained the full menu was not available. The girl that was then asked to come out and serve us appeared less interested but perked up a tiny bit later. The jerk chicken was not fresh and one piece on my plate looked like someone else had had a previous go at it, hence i never ate any more. The rice and peas were over microwaved and clumped in places. I left feeling annoyed that I never complained and more annoyed that I never took photos but not sure that would have made any difference. We were the only ones in there and felt we were a bit if an inconvenience . I cannot believe the five star reviews on here and can only assume we went on a very bad day, but we wont visit again! It has been a long time since i have been served chicken that was so un fresh, it looked like a plate of left overs. As constructive feedback, if you dont have fresh food it would be better to say so and serve nothing other than drinks! So very disappointing and 25.50 i could have spent else where.
