        This is one of the places where Barnes Wallis developed the Bouncing Bomb in the Second World War. The model test dam was constructed to scale and blown up using scale versions of the bouncing bomb. The dam can be seen there to this day. 20/10.

        Place looked amazing. Difficult to find as post code directs the GPS to the M1 motorway in stead of bucknalls lane which goes over the M1.

        We were visiting BRE to find out some info about new technologies being developed and how effective they are. We were really looking forward to this trip, but it turned in to a big disappointment. Once you visit reception you are told to download an app and be on your way. Receptionist pointed us in the direction and that was it. You're able to go in to some houses, some are locked. You might find some basic information about what was installed but nothing in detail at all. For a research institute I would have expected a lot more. I called BRE to see if I could arrange a meeting with one of the technicians about the data they have regarding one project. I was told to email enquiries. I emailed enquiries only to be sent the same email with regards to booking a visit. I've spoken to a few academics about BRE and how I'm able to obtain any data they have (I thought this would be freely available online) and they believed BRE doesn't even collect any data! What does BRE actually do?
