My dad has had several respite visits to Waterbeach Lodge and the most telling thing is that he is very happy to go back! For one who has always been very wary of "Care", this is a major achievement. The rooms are lovely, beautifully decorated and homely and the staff are efficient and welcoming. Dad is always made to feel at home immediately as people recognise and acknowledge him as a friend. Being able to book respite for a few days or a few weeks is a huge bonus for us.

When dealing with the nurse on duty, we were made to feel money was taking precedence over my fathers care. That doesnt exactly give you trust in the actual level of care does it?Not when paying you bill is more important before any care is actually given? Dementia is a very sensitive issue and this matter should be dealt with in a professional caring manner, and in this case several times it was not. Unimpressed. I am in Australia but posting on behalf of my mother who recently had dealings with waterbeach lodge I will be happy to call and discuss Thank you

I recently tried this for my father for a period of convalescent care following an op. It turned out not to be appropriate for someone who still has their faculties. The staff were caring and kind so it may be a good place if you are looking for dementia care.

This residential home is outstanding in its warmheartedness from office and care staff. The decor and layout of the lounge and dining area and bedrooms is pristine, and earns it its right to call itself a care hotel. I arranged for a relative to be transferred here, following serious illness in another part of the country. Her care plan was arranged, and her needs attended to. We, her relatives, were treated with warmth and respect, and we were offered food and drink when we were visiting/helping with our relative. I am tempted to put my name down for ten years time!
