Really good fish and chips from here. Cod, chips and mushy peas cost 8.80 which must be the best value available locally. I remember quite a few years ago this place was not great but things have clearly improved since then. Highly recommended. The fish was freshly fried to order and had light, crisp batter, and the chips were nice and crisp and non-greasy. The portion sizes were generous too. It was nice to see the option of pollock on the menu as an even more affordable option in addition to the usual cod, haddock, plaice and scampi etc. If I had seen that before ordering I would have gone for that! The only room for improvement I could think of is for paper bags to be used instead the plastic one I was offered which would have caused the food to go soggy on the way home due to the trapped steam not being able to escape.

Lady who serves there always looks so sad. But decent batter on things, not greasy. Chips are pretty good too Vegetarian options: Pea fritters & veggie burgers

Update: their hygiene rating has now gone up to 3 ---- Has a 1 Rating for food hygiene and they proudly display the sticker on the door! Why would you eat there?!
