Loved out stay on this working farm. As long as you are fine with a taste of the simple life, set just down the road from the foot of Scafell Pike. Lovely setting, great to see hard working farmer and son, along with their lovely sheep dogs. Highly recommended, but city folk scared of earthy settings should stick to five star hotels and miss this bit of the Good Life. Dont miss out on the night sky from here!

Not the place to come if you want lots of entertainment, mod cons, wifi and mobile signal, or you can't or don't want to walk far. If you want beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, and walks up the highest hills in England from your doorstep, it is absolutely stupendous. We stocked up with food and didn't use the car all week. We just caught the tail end of the heatwave, and had one day of fabulous wild swimming in the pools in the nearby beck. After that, normal Cumbrian weather was restored, but we enjoyed wonderful walks. The cottage is clean, we had plenty of space for our group of five, and has everything you need. Overall, it was amazing value for a cottage with one of the best views in England.
