Pros: The hotel staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, and service was prompt. The dining area was beautiful. The lobby was finished very nicely as well! Cons: Its a shame this same care for fishes wasnt applied to the staircases and individual rooms. A little paint would go a long way! Despite saying there is staff 24/7 available at the front, I remained outside the hotel at night in the rain by myself with all of my luggage hoping someone would let me in for some time. A fellow guest took pity on me and let me in, to an empty lobby. Lugging suitcases up two flights of stairs was also not fun. Recommend re-numbering rooms to reflect the floor they are on.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights during a trip to London, our first time visiting the city. Im not sure about the requirements to be a 4-star hotel in the UK, but this was not what we were expecting. The pictures make it look really nice, and I think at one point in time it was, but it now needs some upkeep. The neighborhood is charming and the building itself is beautiful with a lot of character. I know it is an old building, but our room was very tightly arranged with paper-thin walls. When we first arrived, we could clearly hear our neighbor vomiting in the bathroom next door. The bathroom fan made a loud, rattling sound but was not effective at removing moisture. There were peeling sections of wall in the bathroom and spots on the walls where things that were once attached had been removed but never painted over. All in all, it was fine as a place to sleep each night and walk to catch a bus or the tube, but if we ever make it back to this area of the world, we will look for a different hotel.
