Called Inca out to our property as our boiler broke down. Was very prompt and got straight to it. Really loved his energy and spirit. Managed to get the boiler working by resetting it (which frankly i'd been doing for a few days myself). So we didn't shiver that night...tick!! The recommendation after having fiddled with a few valves included cutting off some pipework here and there.. I politely suggest that I speak to the manufacturer to get a second opinion on the boiler itself...the mood changed...he wasn't rude at all, but got quite insistent on being paid stating that as he was an 'anxious sort'...we paid within an hour to avoid any dramas...remittance was followed up with some texts back from him...clearly offended that I suggested calling the boiler manufacture helpline with claims that he was a member of a plumbers guild....he said he was old school and that knew plumbing and heating better than anyone....guess what? Boiler still moody...I called him back, and he said he was in the pub..fair enough..spend the 120 on beer. Called in a second plumber that systematically inspected the boiler, the cylinder, the valves, the rads and the number of rads we had, the pipes...also climbed up into the loft to look at the tanks...(Inca didn't, and not sure he would have wanted to)...came down and made sensible recommendations that didn't include cutting up pipes willy nilly...moral of the story...its the 21st century...old school doesn't quite cut it anymore...get a second opinion. We now have a plan that addresses the fundamental issue with the heating system...it just needs modernisation and not a Heath Robinson. More work, more money granted, but a sensible recommendation that resulted in us awarding to another heating and plumbing company local to us who have been transparent, intelligent and practical.
