The towels arrived and I immediately queried the quality, there was NO way they were 600gsm.
So I calculated the gsm. For those of you who do not know how to do this please note this is the calculation
Measure the width
Measure the length of the towel
Weigh the towel (roll it up) I use my kitchen scales.
I discovered the towels I had ordered had the following measurements;
70 wide x 130 long. Multiply this figure (.70 x 1.30) equals 0.91
Now take the weight of the towel in my case it was 420grams.
420 divide by the previous figure eg. 0.91 results in the gsm in this case. 461GSM
Not the 600gsm towels I had ordered.
I contacted the company spoke with Paul who advised me that I WAS WRONG, it wasnt the case. I was surprised by his response as generally any dispute is dealt with, with an apology followed by we are sorry and will look into this. I advised Paul I was fully aware of how to calculate the gsm and the quality received was certainly not 600gsm. I was then informed by Paul that I had to wash the towels first they would be more absorbant after a wash. Again I queried how would they magically turn into 600gsm, when I had weighed them at 420grams. I think he realized then that I actually knew what I was talking about and offered to look into the matter and would call me the following day.
Two days later I was forced to contacted Hotel Linens AGAIN as I still hadnt heard back from Paul. This time he was unavailable, I spoke with the receptionist and told her my complaint, she advised that she would forward the message and have Paul call me back, two further days passed, still not word from Hotel Linens. I called again, this time managing to speak to Paul who advised me that in fact I HAD NOT RECEIVED THE CORRECT TOWELS.. surprise surprise and that he would resend the order.
He claims he personally went out and bought the correct towels which had me scratching my head, asking why wouldnt the towels be taken from stock?
He sent them via DPD, I waited and waited... Nothing..... then again contacted Hotel Linens to ask the whereabouts of my package. I was then told the package could not be traced... emmm. So DPD collected the item and did not supply the company with a reference?? Strange. So I called DPD, they told me regardless of where the item was going DPD ALWAYS provided a reference. So I called Hotel Linens back, this time getting the receptionist again, who advised she didnt have any paperwork or reference for the package that had been collected by DPD. Worrying...
I was extremely busy for the next number of days with over 15 guests in the B&B, so I left it, fingers crossed that my package would arrive. Still no package?? I called Hotel Linens again, they had news for me.. the package had been returned to them!!! Puzzled at why this would be the case when the first delivery had been no problem? I was advised they would resend it, nothing arrived..again I contacted Hotel Linens, querying the delivery, Paul was not available and I was reassured I would get a call back from him that day.
Paul failed yet again to contact me,at this stage I had received my credit card bill. I called again Hotel Linens the receptionist answered and I introduced myself and asked what was going on, she replied with they where waiting for ME to get back to them to let them know what I wanted to do. I asked for my towels, I was told this time by Paul that they had been returned again! I asked him when, he replied on Friday, (I was calling on Wednesday). I asked him why I hadnt been contacted to be given this update? He stated he had called, yet I had not received a call despite being in the house the entire time? I stated I did not believe this, he advised he had refunded my credit card the day previous. He could not get the towels delivered. To sum this all up AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!
