Absolutely horrendous aftercare. Our home was not built to specification (admitted in writing) causing months of leaks. we have had scaffolding up putting it right for 4 months. They have done a patch job on the render that looks like a bad council job and they will not put it right despite promising if there was a noticable join they would re-do the whole render. It looks absolutely horrendous, through no fault of our own. this is not the house we paid for. We will never be able to sell it like this. Do not buy a wain homes!

First home purchase (Forge Manor, Chinley). Terrible experience, no negotiations despite not having any preferences/choices due to previous party falling through on sale. Reservation misleading, not advised properly of solicitor fees. The admin charges are redundant as site not complete and company not responsible (possibly for years) to maintain communal areas but still have to pay full 12 months. This is simply a banking facility so they accrue interest on your hard earned money. We now own a Newton. Move in date, no home demo, sales agent demanded keys back when we got there as he demanded we sign and return the move in inspection form on his time scale! Damages/issues throughout property. Most notable: garage door doesn't fit, causing damp, front door mechanism jams, rear patio doors not fitted correctly, hot and cold tap wrong way around, door handles not screwed on, no flooring but skirting boards, toilets, sinks and kitchen fitted so we have to raise it at our own expense if we want floors other than concrete and chip board. Chipboard upstairs completely ruined by workmen using it as a stop for their saws, some floorboards now creak, window scratches and exterior filthy but not their problem, you must clean exterior and god forbid you uncover more issues, wires protruding from side of house (assumed to be freeze tap from boiler), exterior pipe but no drain? Lawn not maintained and covered with construction type materials and weeds. Nails protruding from fencing, parts of fencing broken, interior walls deviate by 1.8cm+, no front door chain, scratched spyglass hole, kitchen dish washer not connected to water, not fitted properly, paint and scratches on light switches, brick vents (exterior) broken, not fitted properly (not an exhaustive list). Site men move around during the day like they own the place (middle of the road) offering to do cash jobs like laying more flags. If Wainhomes don't know, it's because the "eye is turned the other way". Different contractors will simply trespass your property without prior notice or warning, no knowing what they're instructed to do. Customer care non-existent, Karen (care rep) and Andrea/Angela (manager) first conversation I was told they are replacing the old team who did a terrible job, then I'm talked at and the phone disconnected when trying to raise a genuine concern. Since moving in, I have had a total of ZERO responses in writing to my emails/concerns over the near non-existent way that Wainhomes approach your snag-list. There is no definable methodology or schedule, workmen turn up without details of the issues and you have to spend your valuable time pointing things out. Even then, they inspect the issue, say they cannot do anything about it, report back to Wainhomes and nothing further happens. Probably because it's a multi-disciplined job and it's going to cost them some money.

My daughter bought a Wainhomes property 7 years ago, she complained of a smell from day 1 in the ground floor cloakroom, Wainhomes site rep accused her of imaging it, I had a look at the toilet and found that the seal at the soil pipe was defective, she told them and they rectified it. Recently she noticed a mark on the lounge wall between the lounge and the bathroom, she thought it was possibly a problem with the waste from the ensuite directly above, so she asked a plumber to come and have a look at the waste, but what he found was a plumbing joint leaking water. He disconnected the fitting and found that the fitting had not been fitted correctly, the pipe insert had been omitted, so it has been like that for 7 years. The plaster back is mouldy and the studs in the wall are rotten.
