I contacted SLJ Hackett about two months ago as I have had an ambition to have and drive a Bristol car for a very long time. I turned up at their place unannounced on my motorbike and never look particularly smart. From the very start Richard and George treated me with the utmost courtesy and warmth. They are real enthusiasts as well as salesmen. I had bought a non running 407 in 1990 and been let down by others regarding its restoration. They drove over to Bath to view it in another 407 that they had for sale - not perfect but a decent runner and allowed me to drive it and my wife to sample the reality of Bristol travel. About half a dozen test drives later George drove me all the way to Tunbridge Wells to view another potential purchase. I had almost made up my mind to buy a 411 near Bristol Airport but although 10k more this 411 seemed better value and I knew my wife would love the near perfect interior. We worked out a deal, they collected my immobile 407 and off George and I went to Tunbridge Wells again, about a week after first viewing to collect a lovely 411. When I got back to Hackett HQ in Warminster George made a surprise offer to drive my new 411 back to Bath for me and pick up a few bits of the 407 overlooked the night before, if I rode my motorbike home, ready to use to a football match the next day. This was not only very useful to me but also gave George a chance to drive my411 and compare it to others he had experienced (he may be young but has 5 years of Bristols experience, takes every chance to enlarge it and knows his stuff). Richard and George are true car enthusiasts, particularly Bristols. They give of their advice freely and honestly and brokered a deal for me way better (and with a lot less hassle) than I could have managed for myself. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody looking to buy a Bristol.
