Will not return!!! Advertised on web site as a Gastro Style pub with an al a carte menu with dishes inc pressed pork belly, duck breast, pan fried cod etc. Turned up on a Saturday evening to what was a gritty pub with a bar menu of burgers and greasy joes food. When I asked for the al a carte menu, told that ceased to be a while back - they are still advertising the menu for Xmas. Left without sampling the pub grub, but from what we saw will not be returning.

Been going for years, we know its recently changed hands but still decided to go. Starters small and overpriced, my sourdough was just toasted white bread. Mains, tasty, portions drastically smaller, 2 roast potatoes, 1 half of a carrot, everything else was just a small spoon. My glass of house red was a tenner and I decided to avoid dessert based on starters and main. Been going to the village inn for 7 years despite its changes of hands and unfortunately could be our last visits. Freezing inside, no music and no atmosphere. Hate leaving bad reviews because we love to support local but not good overal which is sad due to how far it had come before

We stayed in an Airbnb nearby and was recommended to dine here. The pub looks really cute and we ate early, so it was nice and quiet. The lady behind the bar and serving was very nice and friendly. We ordered the scallops (very good), chicken and leek pie (not great), bangers and mash (nice except for the gravy) and sticky toffee pudding (pretty awful). The food is pretty bad if Im honest but I feel sorry for the place as they seem to be struggling so im hoping the recent reviews give them some pointers. The pie was cold, and the pudding was clearly a refrigerated pre made cake and had not been warmed up. The main problem though is the gravy - sticky sweet and almost black. It didnt taste like gravy and we had to scrape it off most things. Honestly was like bbq sauce/sticky toffee sauce! Ask for it on the side if I were you. I hope this place picks up as it could be a really nice place.

Went for Sunday lunch... it has recently changed management. Portions were good, food was presented beautifully and it tasted good. 3 options for lunch... beef, pork or vegetarian.
