The Regent

This was a damn good pub before Wetherspoon sold it to Stonegate. It's recently been refurbished and now offers an unwelcome and uncomfortable noisy attack on the senses with a ridiculous thudding bass emanating from the loudspeakers which make conversation difficult, as well as the installation of irritating flat screen televisions all over the walls showing inane sports coverage, all of which can only please the brain-dead. Service at the bar can be pretty slow too, and the prices have risen since the takeover, with rumours of more in the future. The beer is also too cold - ale should be served at room temperature! Alas, only the introduction of smelly farm animals could make this pub any worse. UPDATE: The 'music' is now often turned up to unbearable levels through the cheap bassy speakers, rendering decent conversation impossible. Consequently, I've joined others who had noticeably disappeared by taking my custom elsewhere.

Enjoyed one of the Breakfast burgers this morning. Something different to a traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked as expected. Thank you, will be back again.
