Boots Opticians

My mother-in-law (over 75) used this place to her detriment. On the face of it this Boots (franchise) is like all the rest of the Boots empire. It says BOOTS above the door, but BE AWARE a lot maybe a franchise. They seem Ok until things go wrong. Then they become unhelpful, rude and exploit your indisposition. My M-I-L s glasses hinge broke on a set costing 408 after 14 months with normal use and no trauma to them. This was out of boots warranty period which was pointed out to her (no response to her statutory rights of FIT FOR PURPOSE) and was told they could not be repaired (A lie as any good person with basic abilities could remove a screw) by the assistant who was clearly after another sale. Her eyes are important to her as her sight is failing and need glasses so she felt she had no alternative to have another pair. To cut a long story short. This branch had 2 attempts to get the lenses right but failed on both occasions and so the M-I-L had to seek help from another branch of boots which were very helpful indeed & gave her a little faith in boots opticians. When she brought this fiasco to my attention I contacted Boots HO who were very helpful & stated I had to discus it with the branch first. My email to the branch has been dismissed as I expected and is now with Boots HO. We will see what they do & I will update this review. For your own sake avoid this branch. UP DATE................................................................... WELL I'm sorry to say that BOOTS (the company) is no better than the above and washes there hands of any problems you have with one of their FRANCHISE (Boots Opticians). So people, do not be scammed by thinking you are using a reputable company when you use a Boots Opticians. Just because it has "BOOTS" over the door means nothing and just playing on the name. Boots once was synonymous with quality & honesty, but I am afraid that is no longer true in our experience. You only have to look at other review sites like trustpilot to get a view of how bad Boots really are. Use an alternative opticians and your eyes will thank you for it and your bank balance.

Great service and nice people. Had a strange issue with my glasses and they went above and beyond to correct it. It really stood out.
