When I attended a few weeks ago the woman signing people in spoke sharply and rudely to us for no apparent reason. We didn't want to assume racism, and atteibuted it to her just having a rough day. After we were seated we heard her speaking to another woman (asian) who spoke limited English. The job centre woman said "Name?" sharply. The woman clearly provided her first and last name, to which the job centre woman responded "I don't know what THAT means." Well it's her NAME...! She then sent the woman to her seat with a heavy sigh. We then thought that perhaps she was having a REALLY bad day. A minute later a (white English) woman entered and her demeanour and tone changed. She was polite, her tone was no longer aggressive, and she even smiled at her and her children. It has been playing on my mind since. I'm so shocked that people employed by the government are behaving like this in 2022. Please treat people with the respect and dignity they deserve, regardless of their ethnicity.
