Had a lovely stroll to castle from Crawfield's quarry car park. Very uneven so good walkers will find it ok. Others may struggle. Quarry itself was lovely to sit in the sunshine and kids paddled in edge of pond. (Note: very deep and swimming not allowed at edges or at all. Not very clear).

A great place to stop if you're wanting to see a small part of Hadrians wall The car park is 2 for an hour which is all you need to see the wall... You park in front of a water filled quarry which is a pretty spot and the perfect place to stop and have a break, there is a picnic table and a grass area to sit and take the area in It's only a short walk to the wall and the remains of a Fort... It is quite incredible to think its still here after all those years. There is an information board by the Fort with an artist impression of what it would've looked like and lots of interesting facts You can walk to the top of the quarry edge as well, it's quite steep but manageable and the views are fab Well worth a visit... The information board about the quarry is interesting to... Back then there was no interest in keeping the wall they just ploughed straight through it... Really fascinating and thankfully preserved for us all to enjoy thanks to the national trust
