We arrived on Friday afternoon of storm Arwen . Lorraine had lit the fire and the cottage was warm and welcoming. Despite the challenges of the storm, we had a wonderful weekend in this lovely cottage which is well deserved of it's 5 stars. Lorraine and John went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We look forward to our return in June.

This is such a fantastic cottage! We stayed for two weeks on our first ever visit to Northumberland. The cottage has everything we needed and was exceptionally comfortable and cosy. The location is superb - easy access to pretty much everywhere. We were made very welcome by John and Lorraine and it was great to be able to see what goes on on a working farm. If you like walking, the cottage works really well as the Hadrian's Wall Path runs right past. I did three walks back to the cottage from Walltown, Bellingham and Blanchland. We can't wait to return!

Heavenfield Cottage at St Oswald's Farm is a high quality self-catering cottage on the farm of John & Lorraine Reay. As John told me himself, the impeccable service, beautiful fittings and superb level of information and contact before your stay, is down to Lorraine's hard work! There's a lot of hard work goes on here, behind the scenes, to make your stay the very best you will have experienced. It is certainly in the top 5 self-catering properties we have ever stayed in, if not the top!!! Our week here whizzed by and though we've stayed in the area 4 times before, we found plenty to do. On afternoons, if we felt like relaxing, this was a highly comfortable base with all, and more, mod cons than we needed. Location -wise, the cottage and farm are set on Hadrian's Wall, with the Military Road in front and the walking path right at the edge of that road. Hexham is a short drive away with shops, restaurants and pubs. Definitely 5-stars! 6 if I could!!! Oh! If you stay, do buy some of their lamb to eat during your stay or take home! Great, friendly people and great place!!!
