We are surprised and dismayed by Mr Blakeston's version of events. This is our third year with this cottage. We have been made Super Hosts six times by Airbnb and have received 34 5 Star reviews. On Trip Advisor we have been reviewed 25 times all with a 5 Star rating. Please draw your own conclusions.

WARNING Read on before booking. If the cottage cannot accommodate you, you WILL lose money. Sadly, like so many other families our holiday was cancelled by the holiday operator due to the Covid-19 pandemic. We applied for a full refund which is permissible under legislation but the owners of this establishment were extremely reluctant to assist in the matter. We had to make extensive calls to the tour operator who said it was down to the owner to give the refund. The owner was less than compliant with law and tried to avoid making any refund. Finally, most of the back. The owner, Graeme Whittingham, said that he was entitled to keep a 60 fee. This was despite the situation becoming what is referred in law as a frustrated contract (one that the provider cannot fulfill the booking for any reason). Graemes reason for keeping some of the money was that the booking was cancelled as per his Terms and Conditions, which actually stated: 60 would be withheld if we cancelled the booking (which we never did). I cannot comment upon the cottage itself, but I can state that the owner is extremely difficult to communicate with and even more reluctant to give any refund, let future people wanting a peaceful holiday find him more accommodating than just finding a building to stay in. The limited communication I did have was far from good spirited. My advice for what it is worth is find another cottage where the owners are more understanding and supportive.

The host responded promptly & gave pertinent & interesting advice on the local tourist attractions. The accommodation is in a beautiful location & has everything you need to stay away - a home from home. It was also very clean & we felt that any extra precautions had been taken to ensure our safety during the pandemic. Would stay again....

As a frequent guest at Kerne Cottage, were always made welcome by Graeme and always pleased with the clean and cosy accommodation. Some fantastic dog walks accessible from the front door and plenty of other activities in the area. We highly recommend this cottage.

We recently enjoyed a great few days at Graeme's holiday cottage where we had gone to do some walks in and around the Wye Valley. We were well received, the cottage is very well appointed, so that we could either eat in if we wished. or have a meal at a local pub. Our host was as helpful during our stay as he had been prior to it. We hope to return next year. Fred Shepherd
