A little gem of a church so isolated and peaceful.

St Martin is hidden off the busy A16 but is worth a look inside. When you go in don't be put off by the darkness, the light switches are in the vestry on you're right as you go in, the door may need a little force to open and signs are up to help you find them. Once they have warmed up you will see the decoration from the restoration work done in 1861 at the request of the Haigh family. The font is simple and victorian but the stained glass windows and tiled walls and floor are fantastic. The chancel has memorials to the Haigh family who lived in Grainsby Hall which is no longer their. Lots of information on recent work on the church as well as other churches in the care of the churches conservation trust. Plenty of space to park your car, the path up to the church is grass an up hill slightly, becareful with the fragile wooden gat at the entrance!
