Im giving this place a 3.6. The coffee was actually quite good, I ordered a cortado which was surprisingly better than most coffee shops around London. Price-wise, Id say accessible, within the budget of the area its in and accessible by working class people.

On entering "mein host" said we couldn't sit by the window as that was for parties of six. We were merely a party of four. Woe, woe, how that would affect his profits. (Half an hour later a party of two took the six seats). The only other table available was at the back and we had trouble lifting our hands off the table top as it was SO STICKY with heaven knows what had been left on the surface from previous occupants and the staff had rubbed over with a damp rag. Why didn't we ask for it to be cleaned? We did and the deployment of a damp rag appeared once again. SIGH! The food was acceptable but an observation at this point, please. "The owners of the Village Cafe, please note. Once was a surprise but (and this was because it was lunch time with lots of coffee being made for take out) the entire cafe being unable to talk to each other because the coffee grinder noise was at the volume of, standing by the airport runway as a Jumbo Jet took off. The local environmental health should go in with a sound meter, they'd probably serve a noise abatement order. 3-stars guys, only 3 and that was at a pinch
