Planned to pop in for a drink before moving on to another hostelry for lunch. Was so impressed by the lovely welcome that we decided to peruse the menu. Mrs P went for a classic Sunday lunch. I went for something lighter. Both impressed.

I went there twice before, last for a Christmas meal. Food and atmosphere were lovely, it's a great history, definitely you must see upstairs We went there without a reservation and luckily it was quiet in the main section. Food was delayed, and we were asked if it was OK due to the two parties they had at the same night, l which it was. Unfortunately, it took longer. However, we were advised again. Then one of our food wasn't cooked the way we requested. The food was replaced, very swiftly. In the end, the manager apologised, deducted our bill due to the delays, and most importantly, we had tasty meals with reasonably priced. Definitely will go there again.

Lovely pub but the service we had was not great, bar staff were surly and unapproachable.
