Came here today for Mothers Day, have been coming here for years and have always left happy - until today. Had a roast chicken and all was fine except the chicken which was dry and inedible. I commented on this very discreetly and politely to the lady behind the bar who responded in a manner which was nasty and condescending, saying she had cut into the chicken and deemed it to be fine as nobody else had complained. The chicken had clearly not been freshly cooked and was difficult to cut in to. Was really surprised as service here is usually great so was disappointed to be met with such a rude response, almost as if the employee thought I was lying so tried to catch me out as if I was a child. To add insult to injury she took only 2 off the bill, the roast dinner itself was nearly 15 and bill as a whole 75. Shame as Ive recommended this to a lot of people and been coming for years. Will not be continuing to do so, or returning here.

We had a lovely meal at The Cottage Inn. The food was properly home cooked bad very tasty! We will be going back again at some point!
