Uley is, arguably, the best brewery in the county of Gloucestershire. They offer a varied selection of ales, all-year round and can often be found at various farmers markets, at weekends, across the county. While they do primarily supply ales in the "golden" spectrum, my personal favourite of theirs is the slightly darker "Old Spot": a rich, quaffable beer that tastes much cleaner and less malty than you would expect for a beer of its colour. The winter-special "Pigor Mortis" is like Old Spot on steroids.

We were on holiday in Uley last week and were taking a walk around the village and happened to pass the brewery. The Master Brewer was working outside and he was kind enough to stop and chat to us about the various beers brewed today and in the past. He also very kindly let us sample one of his creations. He was obviously passionate about his craft and it was a delight to talk to him. A great ambassador for a local brewery - thank you.
