I saw a nice little car here - which had been there a while and I thought I'd take a look and buy it if all was well. I called this outfit and asked for a test drive. Just before leaving to visit Car Consultants, I got a medical call-out. I texted this outfit to let them know I had to cancel the test drive and I gave them the reason. They only wanted me to call in on the way to my medical call-out - whereby leaving some poor soul in limbo - possibly life threatening limbo - while I casually rocked up at this outfit to test drive a car and fill the proprietor's pockets with even more money if I liked it. WHAT ? !!!
Emergency over, I texted the next day for a re-book of the test drive. The reply contained 'I Told You I Was Off Today' - amongst other things. No worries, thought I, I can visit tomorrow and sort it out in one go.
Tomorrow arrived and a text came in to my phone. It said that the car I wanted had been sold at 08:00 to someone else and [beyond my belief] they had 'other small cars' for me to view ... audacity of the utmost - in anyone's book !
Needless to say, my money will go to a professional company for the purchase of my next car. As an apprentice mechanic from school - into a big main dealer - I knew then just how dishonest and downright crooked the motor industry was. Clearly, it hasn't changed and some dealers think it's perfectly acceptable to permit interested potential customers to be 'gazumped' by the fastest wallet - as opposed to being decent and honourable in valuing interested parties who were there first.
Ah well; lesson learned !
