I liked the place and enjoyed my time but all that was overshadowed by the fact that I lost all my stuff when we went. The staff member told me to place my bag with the others, we did so and returned an hour later to find it stolen. Completely neglectful behaviour. They should have warned us of security or otherwise NOT advised us to place it where we did, where they would not supervise it whatsoever, absolutely not trustworthy in the slightest. My friend shared the same experience recently and I will now have to replace my phone and other valuables. I will be passionately avoiding this place and I recommend all who value their belongings to do the same.

Purchased an O'Neill wetsuit from Tynemouth Surf Company in May 2021. Required a high quality all weather wetsuit at short notice after growing out of my old one. Shop. Excellent, great range, very well stocked. Spent a great deal of time researching and speaking to a range of wetsuit outlets in the Newcastle area. I wish I had gone straight here instead, would have saved me a lot of time. They had the greatest range and availability of wetsuits during a time of peak demand when other shops had limited or no stock. Customer Service. Friendly and knowledgeable. As soon as I walked into the store and asked about wetsuits the young blonde guy on the desk had me sized up immediately. He then proceeded to show me a wide range of options and explained the pro's and con's of each in lots of detail. I settled on a 5 mm Hyperfreak Men's wetsuit after he explained it would provide the highest quality and warmth in all weather conditions without sacrificing mobility. He was efficient, eager and friendly without rushing me. He was highly knowledgeable of the products and water-sports in general. Thanks to his advice the wetsuit fits perfectly. Product Value. Competitive. While being expensive, a good wetsuit always is, the price of the item was very reasonable. I could not find a better price for that item when new in any regional stores or online. Product Quality. A hardwearing, comfortable purchase. After being used heavily over the last year it shows zero signs of wear and tear, still feels and looks like a new wetsuit. It looks great in the water, highly comfortable, excellent mobility and keeps me very warm. The arm holes, leg holes and neck are tight preventing leakage. The wetsuit is relatively easy to get in and out of, while the zip can be done up without help, neither of which are a given for a wetsuit. The velcro warning is very useful, reminding me to tab over the velcro when storing it to prevent my suit from bobbling. Surf Co T-Shirt. Nice bonus on my shopping trip. I also bought a white Saving the Ocean t-shirt as a Father's day gift. This is a really nice item, no flaws or wear despite heavy use. Keeps its brilliant white colour, the blue back graphic and logo have not faded, while the simple design is really eye catching, got tons of compliments. It is true to size and very comfortable, while being inexpensive for a high quality item. Nice to see much of the money goes to charity Facilities. Diverse complex. For trying on the full range of wetsuits I used their indoor water-sports changing facilities. It is clear they have a huge range of watersport hire opportunities, all the equipment looks new and well maintained. Great location right beside the stunning Longsands beach, the water-sports capital of the North is just a short walk down the hill. It seems like a great water-sports business and teaching facility. There is a takeaway food outlet on the side of the building, did not get the chance to eat there but it smelled great with a huge range of proper meals and reasonable prices. Summary. Only place to go in the North-East for water-sports hire, teaching and retail. Great store, well priced, excellent customer service, great range of wetsuits and other watersport items. Will definitely come straight here in future and keens to hire some new equipment and maybe pick up some new skills with them. Alistair Grey Newcastle
