I suffered some discomfort in my left hip around March/April 2021 and visited the clinic. Dr McGann told me to have a look on the TIMS website which I did but it did not make that much difference. A month later a Dr Edwin prescribed painkillers and told me to stay active, nothing more than that. In a later telephone appointment she told me that I needed to do stretching exercises. I explained that i did not know what exercises she was referring to, but she did not take matters any further. I was left having to pay for a consultant who has not helped me that much (see my review for Kalyan Spine) and fast forward to now it is evident that if I had received anywhere near half decent advice from Whickham practice in the early stages I may not have been in the position Im in now, in chronic pain and referred to a pain clinic. All they needed to do was to explain my options at the outset (which Dr McGann could have easily done, i.e. that I could refer to TIMS however an alternative is that I could go to a private physiotherapist of which there are many which may be covered on insurance if I have this, which I do, the advantages of which is quicker treatment and longer, more regular physio sessions). I have consequently wasted hundreds of pounds when early good proactive advice, that would have taken a couple of minutes (the usual excuses like being too busy due to COVID etc dont apply as this would have taken minutes), could have averted all of this. Instead I received an lazy uncaring approach that has cost me my health, my life virtually over now as I approach the end. This message is to avoid others making the same mistake. Regards
