I can't comment on food and hospitality as the pub was closed upon our arrival 'on spec' (googling for opening is suggested to avoid disappointment), this pub which is located at the boundary crossroads between Shropshire and Staffordshire. This makes it an important place for students of British medieval history as it was a location known to the Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr and Iolo Goch in the 15th century (and possibly Myrddin earlier), as a sacred spot mentioned in Welsh prophecy. It was to be the place where he intended to confront the English, fulfil the ancient Welsh prophecies and establish a boundary between a greater Wales and England. So it gets 5 stars from me for location alone.
