Called in to Trowell to top up EV on way back from Coventry to Doncaster - not fun! Two out of three fast CCS chargers available - neither of which were working, card reader connected then disconnected multiple times & happily charged me 1+ a couple of times! The chap using the third CCS came back to say it got to 65% then stopped charging & wouldn't start again, yay. Get comfy dear reader, I ain't finished yet, not by a long chalk unfortunately for you!! I'd stopped at Tamworth services prior to this for the this elusive top up - only one (yes one!) CCS fast one there but was in use with someone else waiting to use it. As an aside, nice little services, bar the usual clientele leaving their rubbish everywhere! Keeping up? me neither but on I go, top up ahoy at the next Services (some service), Tibshelf. Well well, only one fast CCS, one car just reversing out after using it but the car in the next bay (CHAdeMO) about to use the CCS. Thankfully after a chat, the very very nice Jen let me use it for forty minutes to give me enough to get home because she was staying in the hotel so was happy to come out & hook up once I'd done (not that, hook up to the charger!). Topped up, finally :). So travel time was doubled due to a ridiculously low availability level of charging points, & poor reliability of them. Thanks (that's sarcasm BTW). Done this journey a few times previously & always managed to use Tamworth but even then, dropped on with someone just finishing with the the ONE fast CCS point. Someone somewhere needs a rocket (not an electric one, obviously, it wouldn't get far) because if the future is to be electric, then there is a long long way to go, this level of lack of service is pathetic. Very long rant over - & I don't feel any better for it. :(.
