A lovely B&B. We stayed in the summer of 2021 when walking sections of Hadrians Wall. We were welcomed with white wine outside in the garden. We had booked late and so hadnt been able to request the full evening meal experience, but a lovely salad and soup was rustled up for us. Breakfast included homemade black pudding - delicious. We would definitely recommend a stay here!

Really lovely older couple running this place. Except only cash unfortunately but that's thanks to brexit . I expected a nice room but got not one, not two but three rooms ! A bedroom, a bathroom and a small sitting room. They offer several dinner options made by the host, a former chef. Really exceptional place to stay. Very happy I've been here.

My son & I spent 2 nights at the Barn recently whilst hiking the Hadrian's Wall Path, having booked through Mickledore Walking Holidays and what a perfect place to stop on our walk. Not only are Pauline & John fantastic hosts, they are wonderful people and welcomed us warmly into their home. They'll be the first to admit that Henshaw isn't a bustling center so the fact that they offer dinner - let alone a gourmet 3 course meal - is a big bonus. John's cooking is worthy of a top-tier restaurant and we enjoyed 2 lovely dinners over our stay...I loved how many fresh, home-grown elements he managed to incorporate on every plate. Even the lunch that John packed us when we set out again on Monday morning was delicious (my son was quick to comment it was the best chicken sandwich he ever had!). The Barn itself is very cozy and incredibly well maintained. Our bedroom was meticulously cleaned and the bathroom large and well appointed. Thankfully, we spent our rest day here which allowed us to visit the Roman site at Vindolanda with ease. The property is located a few miles from where you leave the trail at Steel Rigg but John is gracious enough to meet you at Twice Brewed Inn or The Sill; likewise, he will bring you back to the trailhead when you are ready to depart. All in all, we had a great stay and I do not hesitate to recommend Henshaw Barn to anyone hiking the Wall path or just visiting Northumberland.
