The shop keeper was following me around and making comments on what I was picking up constantly ( for example: oh you know you cant open that! when I was just reading a packet).
When I went to pay she packed the bag and held it away from me on her side of the counter for a full minute after I had paid.
Note that she didnt do this with the white woman who paid before me. She didnt get followed and had a nice chat with the shop keeper while she was paying, and held her bag while she was paying.
I am a black woman in Devon, I get that I look different to the regular clientele but I dont deserve to be treated like a criminal. I was actually wearing my uniform from the hospital. I clearly wasnt there to steal or cause trouble. Regardless of what I was wearing, I dont deserve to be treated like a criminal!
I left very upset to say the least.
This was clear racism and that woman is disgusting.
Dont go here.
