Very pretty. Came hunting headaches and could only find one of the two.

This is a beautiful church, it is so peaceful, we visit it on a regular basis as my mother father, grandparents and nephew are laid to rest. This church has played a big part off my life . My dog also loves the beautiful walks around the church.

Love the cream teas every 3rd Sunday of the month between April and September. Their parishioners very welcoming. A small church packed with interesting historic items. Don't miss the the 400-year old Oak tree preserved on its grounds. Fantastic Gloucestershire country views.

St Leonard's Church is Tortworth is an 19th century, Perpendicular style reconstruction of the earlier church built in 1450, itself a reconstruction of a 12th century church. Only the lower stages of the tower remain from the 14th church with newer, embattled sections on top to increase the height. The nave and chancel are largely 19th century reconstructions, only the font is original from the 12th century structure. The south aisle and chapel were added in the 1872 reconstruction. The south chapel features two elaborate tombs for two Thomas Throckmorton, one died in 1568 and the other 1607. There is also an oak chest dedicated to the Ducie family, who funded the reconstruction in 1872. Behind the church is another monument to Julia, Countess of Ducie who died in 1895 at is buried in the churchyard. Nearby is the Tortworth Chestnut, a magnificent specimen thought to be nearly 800 years old.
