My son has just spent the last few days here with his school and I am absolutely appalled by my son and his friends experience here. My son was forced to go into the water when he told them that he has an issue with he's ear and can not put he's head under the water but they did not listen. They made he's friend go to high heights when he was terrified and only let him come down when he actually cried through frustration and being scared. My son was freezing cold in he's bed at night due to holes in the blanket and apparently holes in the walls. He did not enjoy most activities as he felt he was forced to do things he didn't want to do. I am disgusted at the behaviour of these teachers at robins wood. Children are suppose to be there to have fun and have a great experience but instead he came home upset, annoyed and never wanting to go on a school trip again. I should of read the reviews before I sent him here and listened to the bad ones.

My daughter was here for a 2 night residential in January. She said the rooms were tiny, dirty and freezing and the toilets were disgusting. A real issue for her and the other children she was sharing the room with though was the night wardens or 'night ninjas' as they were known. At bedtime and during the night it wasn't the teachers who looked after the children but staff employed by the centre. They would burst into the room if they heard any noise. My daughter found this very intimidating as they were told that if they got caught talking, their name would be entered into a book for the teachers and they would miss an activity the following day! This was very upsetting for all of them, especially when the 'ninjas' were entering bedrooms and threatening this when children were sleep talking! The activities were good but during the canoeing, my daughter's flotation aid was fitted so tightly she couldn't take a full breath and had to breathe in shallow breaths. She told the group leader and her teacher but neither of them loosened it, citing safety issues! She was so uncomfortable it was difficult for her to sit down. Having used these devices myself I know there is no need whatsoever for them to be uncomfortable or so tight the person is struggling to breathe. On her return I telephoned Robinwood and made a complaint as I was very upset that no one listened to or helped my daughter when I wasn't there to advocate for her. I was told the complaint would be 'investigated' but the response was a complete joke as all the centre manager could say was that it would be fed back! My daughter's school didn't even comment! Schools should be giving more details to parents to make an informed choice about this place but it seems like this is an easy gig for teachers so I don't see them looking for an alternative anytime soon!
