The Great House

We went with another couple for a weekend away and it was absolutely brilliant - love the house, which has clearly been restored with great passion and attention to detail, and Shelia & Bruce (and their sons) are wonderful natural hosts: nothing is too much trouble and everything done with a big smile. The bar area is wonderfully atmospheric and we ate there the first night. The food was delicious and very good value indeed. We have already re-booked!

We chose to spend our honeymoon here - after our wedding in London on 5th August - the aim being complete and utter relaxation. Mission accomplished! Stunning building that Sheila and Bruce have put their all into. Felt at home straight away and some fantastic Just Married touches - Thank You both. Hugely recommend this home from home and location.

Not just a luxury B&B but a Luxury Experience.. from the moment we drove into the drive to be greeted by the most gorgeous house in all its glory the sun shining down , the beautiful bunting and the most wonderful warm welcome by Sheila & Bruce who are the heart and soul of their business. We settled in to the absolutely breathtaking Luttrell Suite which is very US! With its deep green walls , the regal four poster bed and the gold leaf panelling. Every detail, every inch as perfect and beautiful as the rest. . It really is special. The food - Homemade Scrummy out of this world deliciousness , created and cooked by Sheila. The impeccable service and attention to detail by both Bruce and Sheila made the experience even more special. Being able to relax and unwind in the private hot tub with a glass of bubbly ordered from their perfectly unique stunning bar & enjoying the Exmoor air. Cooling off in the welcomed cooled down water was so refreshing too during the heatwave! Its safe to say we have made life long friends with you both and we cannot wait to create many more memories all together & we WILL be back. Thank you so very much for what has been the best stay we have ever had. Cant wait to see you again soon, Soph & David x

We would thoroughly recommend a stay at The Great House. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The house itself has been beautifully restored, with plenty of elegance, warmth and charm. VERY comfortable bed, too! The Great House is conveniently located for exploring Exmoor.
