Lovely old pub, packed with history and charm. The giant fireplace wasn't alight when we visited on a warm April afternoon, but it looks amazing. All around the walls are old photos, maps, greenmen and pictures of remembered regulars. The beer was good, the pub and toilets spotlessly clean. The big garden looks perfect for a summers day, so well head back with the kids one weekend. Nearby activities: Lovely walks along the Dengy Peninsula coast, in both directions. The decommissioned power station is interesting. The RAF WW2 memorial is very poignant. The Chappel is a key part of British religious history.

***VERY IMPORTANT*** Easily THE best Katsu Curry for miles. Mike and his team will make you feel extremely welcome. The beer is good, the beer lines are clean and most importantly the food is a absolutely spot on. Great atmosphere.
