I stayed here on a lads cycling holiday and we had a great time. The hostel was comfortable, the staff super friendly and welcoming. Theres a drying room and bike shed, which was brilliant as we were soaking wet when we arrived. The buffet breakfast went down very well and they let Jamie have 3 eggs. Plenty of showers, so very little queuing for them in the evening. And theres a lovely path in the grounds leading down to the river at the bottom, from there its an easy trip to the Anglers Rest pub, which is also great.

A very enjoyable stay at YHA Ravenstor. I booked this hostel for myself and 4 other friends to stay for 3 nights over the Easter bank holiday weekend. The booking process was easy and any questions we had were quickly answered over email. Photos of the rooms on the website are outdated (only by different bedding colour and metal instead of wooden bunk beds). Check in process was faultless, we stayed in room 7 which had an amazing view out overlooking the valley and hills. Food was good, nothing special, we did make use of the self catering kitchen too which was well looked after and clean. A great hostel in an ideal location, around 30 min drive to most places in the Peak District and the Monsal Trail easily accessible. Great value for money, would definitely recommend if you want a cheap break away when travelling as a group. Good points: - Location and View from room - Clean facilities (kitchen, shared bathrooms) - Helpful and knowledgable staff - Comfy beds and lounge area Bad points: - intermittent mobile data and WiFi only reachable in certain areas - Noise of Vent in room above sink pumping air (I would advise to bring ear plugs or headphones to sleep with) - No table/chairs in rooms - Only 2 plug sockets (bring extension lead if travelling as a group)
