Andrew had previously sorted a rodent problem in my attic some time ago so I had no hesitation in contacting him again recently to look into some activity I'd heard in the attic of my current home, half the size of my former home. He briefly assessed the area, but seemed more keen to upsell their services by saying what could be done for future deterrent. He determined the activity could be squirrels as there was no sign of rodent mess, but one bit of squirrel mess. He left 2 traps and sent a quotation of almost 2000 to 'fix' future entrants. This included insulating the loft which was something else we discussed, advising that the insulation may be difficult to find. Naturally I thought it was a high quote so decided not to proceed with that. My main aim was to sort the squirrel activity. I was sent an invoice for around 200 after the first visit and advised it was due immediately, even though the 2nd visit, part of the cost, hadn't taken place. Between the two visits someone else insulated the loft with insulation readily available from B&Q at just 25 per roll. At this point there was still nothing in the traps despite still hearing activity. When Andrew carried out his 2nd visit he found a rat in the trap. He took both traps away and the rodent, and when I asked if he could take a look at a specific point where I thought the rodent had entered, I was told not on this visit as he had a bad knee and another appointment, which meant I would have needed to pay a further 50 for another visit. I also asked if he could leave a trap for peace of mind, and was again told it would incur a further visit and cost. When I questioned the cost I was advised a good few times that Pestbgone is much cheaper than other companies and the Council. I don't know this industry, so cannot compare costs, but essentially I paid 200 for 2 traps being laid and then taken away, and I paid for the opportunity of being quoted 2000 for trying to investigate and try to determine future entrance of rodents. I'm not saying this is a bad company, but definitely a bad experience, so I would urge anyone to do their homework first and compare costs before allowing anyone to come into your home, as once they do you're tied in to costs, and you're paying for them quoting additional costs.
