I had to the good fortune to enter this church. This is usually open on Sundays but an elderly couple had organised a visit with Kenneth and Erica, the lovely couple who take care of this place. It's a shame that these centers of culture, purpose and peace don't attract the materially minded people of the contemporary society. It was sad and eye opening to look at a 1904 picture of a group of students many of whom have their graves in the churchyard outside.

Today my wife and I enjoyed an excellent guided tour of this lovely church. This out of the way Roman Catholic church is a surprise when you get inside as the interior is much more elaborate and beautiful than one would expect from the exterior. I was allowed to take some photographs and will add them to this review once I sort out them out. The church was built with the help of Elizabeth Dalton, a member had the local land-owning family around here. the Egyptian Style stone mausoleum adjacent to the church predates the church and inside are the remains of four members of the Gillow family, famous furniture makers. On entering the mausoleum we saw there was room for the remains of 20 more people. Descendants live at nearby Leighton Hall and also in London. We understand that some wish to be placed in the mausoleum after their deaths.
