We took delivery of half a box of Boreray hoggett last week and had out first joint for Sunday lunch. The smell in the house all day was amazing and the meat didnt disappoint - so full of flavour. Lovely dark meat which fell to pieces after a good few hours in the oven. We had a traditional roast and it was one of the best meals weve had for ages - thanks - so glad we saw your post on social media and will definitely have another box

Dan and everyone else at Team Dan (sorry I don't know you all) at Marlfield Farm have supplied us with tasty rare breed lamb twice now with more to follow. This time was a Boreray hogget lamb, I slung a shoulder in the tagine and it was awesome. Flavoursome chunks falling off the bone. Next up was steaks/rump cuts which I grilled and had alongside buttery crushed new spuds with mint, onions and garlic. Plus a feta cheese salad. The meat stood out well with all this other flavours and what you can't see in the pictures is the other steak which we ate too It's some seriously good meat, buy it! Cook it lovingly! Eat it slowly with enjoyment and do the same with seconds

We contacted Heather and Dan as we wanted to start our own small flock of rare breed sheep. As it was during lockdown and we were complete novices we had a really lengthy series of emails where all our questions were happily answered and advice given and we finally settled on a small all female flock of Soay. On the day of delivery, Dan came not just with the sheep but also armed with all the paperwork necessary and a lot more information and guidance. He spent a good hour going through everything with us both including all the red tape for registration. Six weeks on and we now have a very happy and healthy flock and the flock is registered with Grassroots and we spend far too much time just gazing at our beautiful sheep. We would happily recommend Heather and Dan and we will definitely be talking to them later in the year about introducing a ram to our flock.

We've been buying meat boxes from Heather & Dan at Marlfield farm for several years now and have always been very happy with the price and the quality of the meat. The hogget and mutton from their rare breed sheep is slowly-grown and full of flavour as a consequence. The meat is a pleasure to cook, with a nice marbling of fat. It's also very important to us that the welfare of the sheep is taken so seriously. We're really interested to read on the website that not only is the meat produced in a really environmentally friendly way, but in fact carries a zero carbon footprint.

We keep small flock of rare breed sheep as a hobby, but do not breed our own. Our sheep live their whole lives with us from lamb through to old age. Having searched unsuccessfully for several months for high quality replacement stock, we came across Dan and his family who specialise in rare breeds on a beautiful farm at Earby. We were warmly greeted by Dan and shown round several groups of this years lambs. The animal husbandry at Marlfield farm is of a very high standard and the lambs (and everything else) are obviously, well cared for and all in excellent condition. We were offered a wide choice of breeds and Dan helped use choose wisely to suit our own fields and location. He was able to offer excellent advice regarding ongoing care of some rather special sheep, and clearly takes a great personal interest in ongoing welfare. There was absolutely no pressure to buy. We settled on 5 Shetland and 2 Ronaldsey Wethers, which Dan delivered a week later. 2 months on and our new stock are flourishing and have settled well in to their new home and hopefully a long life. We would Highly recommend Marlfield Farm for producing lovely lambs, in a caring environment and ideal for small flock holders.
