Visited during the week. There was a carpark on arrival (and an overflow carpark as well), which was pay and display, but only cost 2 for the whole day. There was a cafe next to the carpark and a kids play park. There was a toilet about 3 mins walk away. Near to the toilet were a few gift-type shops and a couple of galleries (which we didn't expect). There were maps available for the walk(s) but they asked 1 per map, can just take a photo of the map that is also there on arrival. The paths were easy to navigate and we never felt 'lost'. We chose the pathed walk but we decided to also visit the local church (see pics) so had to deviate from the pathed walk to find the church. That was the only time the map was a bit more tricky to figure out where we were going. The church was open and welcoming. There was lots of information about the things inside. I would say the medieval Wall paintings were some of the most interesting ones we have seen. The place was kept beautifully and the grounds people that look after it do an amazing job. There was a victorian walled garden that we walked through (see pic) which was well kept and very interesting, plus a good marker when finding your way back. There was a forest walk area and open fields too. The pathed walk would be fine for wheelchair users/ pushchairs or anyone who struggles to walk. There was a very cute bird hide, with bird feeders outside the windows, which was a nice surprise. We saw a few bluetits among other birds. One of the ladies there when we entered said there was a woodpecker a mins before we arrived. There were plenty of benches dotted throughout the walk to enjoy the sights and sounds. We found it to be very peaceful and welcoming. We will definetly visit again. We spent 2 1/2 hours there but could easily spend longer.
