Swattesfield Campsite

Wonderful Jess made us feel so welcome on her campsite. Campsite is family friendly and a lovely shop on site for camping equipment and wine beers juice. We recommend, beautiful peaceful and eco friendly. Will come again with the family. Walk the Thornham Walk and ended up at 4 Horseshoes pub for refreshments. Highly recommended 10 stars for Jess and her Dad.

The main campsite is just a field; the other part is much nicer but we were confused by contradicting signs and our welcome was being told off very sternly. The showers were ok as long as no-one else used them and no-one was washing up. They had the annoying button with a few seconds of water. Toilets were mostly clean. There were only two showers but this was fine and I never had to wait: The cooking area was a real plus. Nowhere to keep food cool and we did not know that cool-packs could be frozen until much later (too late for us). No fires allowed for much of the time we were there due to the heat. We loved the chickens and no cockerel which was good. So many wasps which were irritating from morning until dusk. Good flat areas to camp. The main field was noisy but it was quiet towards the woods mostly. Regular high speed trains very close to the site, to be honest that didnt really bother us. We liked that there were no set pitches. Overall we felt it was over-priced and we felt a bit unwelcome at first. We wouldnt return here due to that.
