Used Jake for 3 pieces of work recently. An EICR in a rental property, an EICR in our property and a subsequent installation of a new fuseboard. Whilst he seemed nice enough initially we had various issues which made the outcome a bit of a nightmare. On each occasion Jake was due to start at 8am but all three times turned up 2-3 hours late. The first time he called to say he was running late (which put me in a difficult position with my tenant who was waiting in for him) but the following two occasions he didnt even call and when contacted to see where he was he just said he was running late - no explanation, no apology or even an ETA. Not ideal when you are relying on someone being on time. Additionally, on the second day of the consumer unit work he rang at 8am to say he wasnt coming as he had something else to deal with and would come back some time later the following week. When changing the consumer unit he twice unplugged an extension into a freezer and left it unplugged without notifying us. The first time we found it in time but the second time we only found it a couple of days later when the entire contents had defrosted and had to be thrown away. When I mentioned it to him (and politely by way of information at that), there was no acknowledgment or apology, let alone any attempt to rectify or reimburse for the wasted food. He later said the extension lead was dangerous - although he hadnt mentioned that to us at any point when doing the work or told us hed unplugged it. I queried the invoice which had included 55 for trunking and cleatings etc even though in the end minimal if any had been used as existing trunking was retained, although wires were left not fully enclosed, he did then remove the 55 once queried, but seemed to have been going to charge had I not queried it. There also seemed to be excessive costs for cabling (250 for 25m worth) when there only looked to be probably 10m at the absolute most used in the end, but I didnt bother querying that as I just wanted to conclude the works and was getting a bit fed up. I then spent 6 weeks chasing him for the Electrical Installation Certificate and notification under Part P Building Regs for the consumer unit installation, or at the least a timescale on when he will provide them, but since paying his invoice he become elusive and unresponsive. In the end I had to make a formal complaint through the NICEIC. Only then once contacted by NICEIC did he get back in touch with an abrupt message saying youve had the report sent multiple times. Clearly I hadnt as common sense would confirm that I wouldnt have been wasting my time chasing him for it if Id received it. He finally sent it along with a Building Control number so we had to purchase the Building Control Certificate ourselves (despite previously confirming he would send us the certificate). Total shambles which could have been dealt with differently at every stage but found Jake really difficult, abrupt, unapologetic, rude in communication, unreliable and inexperienced at dealing with customers.

Fantastic service by JS Electrical. We were struggling to find an electrician to look at some issues in a rental property. After putting a request through Checkatrade Jake phoned be back within 30 seconds. He has visited the property within two days and resolved the issues. JSE provided great communication with prompt responses to messages when arranging a date and time. Great service at a great price... very impreessed ! Service: General repairs

We contracted Jake to install mains power supply to a garden cabin. He went through in detail the work required and how and where all the cables would run from the house to the cabin. He also went to great lengths to hide as much of the outdoor cabling as possible so it wasn't too visible. During his time working at our property he was polite and kept us informed with what he was doing. We are delighted with the work he's done and would definitely call upon his services again.
