Lovely course, quiet and well kept. Good course for beginners with some challenging holes thrown in for the more experienced golfer. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a laid back game.

A challenging but very enjoyable course, with beautiful views. Very well laid out. The members we met were friendly and welcoming. Amazing value for only 10 each.

A little gem of a course. It's out in the sticks a bit, between more prestigious (and expensive) clubs like Hexham and Brampton. The club-house is only open on competition days. The cost of a round for non-members is only 10 on weekdays and 15 at weekends and is paid in the starters office in an" honesty-box" system. The fairways are in beautiful condition and the greens while not being the fastest, run true and are improving by the day. There are no professional green-keepers but the course is maintained by club members, mostly but not exclusively from the committee. But it's the views that are the real selling point of this rural and very friendly course. To the east you have Hadrian's wall, and to the south, the north Pennines. The Pennine way runs through the course, so care has to be taken, especially in the walking season, not to hit anyone. (It ruins your card) I often play this course early in the mornings and I am usually the only person playing. If you're ever up this way, call in and give it a go, you won't be disappointed!

So there are no bunkers ,the greens are not quite Augusta standard ,there is no bar or food ,no pro shop and thats what makes this hidden gem absolutely marvellous. There are no professional greenstaff as the members do all the work themselves. We turned up on a damp but bright day and stuffed our 20 in the honesty box and began our round . And what a delight it was. I dont think I have enjoyed a round so much for a long time . Beautifully laid out with some challenging long uphill holes and tough par 3s. The views are magnificent and the silence is deafening . You can see for miles and hardly likely to be busy. This is an ideal stop if you are returning south from Scotland and fancy a round to break the journey. Dont expect fast tabletop greens but they are perfectly playable and stray to far from the fairway and you are in trouble. How wonderful to see a course looked after and loved by its members . Totally impressed and if Im ever up this way again my 10 is in an envelope
