Delve Architects

Working with everyone at Delve was a joy, they came up with some spectacular ideas and really listened to what we needed to do to our Victorian terrace, and came up with amazing creative solutions. Unfortunately the soaring prices of labour and materials took us all by surprise, but I don't think that was Delve's fault. Alex did everything he could do bring the project within budget, in the end global commodity chains could not be beat. If and when prices return to normal, we would go back to Delve to start our project with them in a flash.

Spent over a year with Delve working on my house renovation. The quotes from the builders came back almost twice over the budget I had set out in my brief. My renovation is no longer able to proceed because of this and I have wasted considerable time and money over this. A word of advice - when considering an architect, make sure they give you their best estimate that the project is on budget at every stage, and make sure you formalise this in the contract. I not saying a precise costing of the project, but a rough costing based upon the architect's experience and his/her visibility for the price of labour and goods. If you don't, you may be asked to hire a Quantity Surveyor at additional cost to yourself... implying that if you want to know if your project is on budget - go hire a QS! I definitely would not be using or recommending Delve again. My wife, two young kids and I have all suffered as a result of this.

Delve designed and managed an entire Victorian mid-terraced renovation for me, including rear kitchen extension, attic bedroom conversion and extensive refurbishment of the entire existing structure. I initially talked to a couple of other architects, but I found Delve were more competitively priced, had fresher design ideas and I liked their four stage approach which was outlined from the start. It was a complicated refurb and I could not have done it without Delve Director, Ed Martin's initial concepts, design, planning submissions, engagement of various consultants and obtaining quotes from a number of building contractors. Ed made regular site visits and was in constant liaison with the building contractor and me. Also, Ed took out so much of the stress around contractor stage payments by reviewing build progress against billing, ensuring I only paid the builders for the work that was satisfactorily completed. Altogether this culminated in a very successful finished project and a positive experience for me. I highly recommend Delve Architects.
