Brought my bikes for service (Gazelle and Urban Arrow) had some parts myself as it is likely to cause delays otherwise, wherever you bring your bike. Everything was done in a day, quicker even. Was able to do the school runs in the morning and afternoon on my bike. Bikes were thoroughly checked and issues picked up I wasnt aware off.

Really disappointed to be sharing negative experience with a new bike from this shop. 6 months ago I bought their St Ann bike for 400. My old bike (my Mum's from the 80s) had finally given up the ghost; at the time it was really tricky to get bikes as stock issues everywhere; and in addition I had a very small baby and it was really hard to coordinate childcare etc to get out without her (but not yet big enough to cycle with her). We really needed a bike to take my 3-year-old around on. For all these reasons and a number of good reviews, I was happy to go with Barnes Bikes who were a local small business with a few new bikes in stock - I was hoping for one to last another 40 years! I had never bought a bike before. Within the first day of riding it the chain came off. It then did this a number more times in the first week and I took it back for readjustment. It took a while to coordinate childcare and take it down, but they fixed it. To be fair to them, Barnes Bikes have now fixed my bike 5ish times without grumbling or charging for the labour. They have charged for new brake pads which I was quite disappointed as had ridden it approx a dozen times in total when they needed replacing, but my husband took it in that time so I wasn't there to discuss. But I have been really disappointed that after each issue is fixed, it seems to develop another within a few weeks. I thought, buying a new bike. I could reasonably expect a few months at least of reliable use. I don't know what the overall issue is but the gears, chain, brakes have all needed readjusting multiple times. It rides OK, but it's not brilliant. I really wish I'd looked elsewhere and, indeed, took it in today hoping to put a line under the whole episode before we move away so are no longer going to be able to bring it back easily. [As well as fix the issue that the chain is coming off again including freewheeling on main roads with my three-year-old on the back.....]. They were not able to buy it back at all and, hence, I am writing this review. They seem like nice people, nice little shop, and their e-bikes might be great, I have no idea. But would NOT recommend their new bike range. Really regret buying a bike there. In six months of pretty light use (I am on maternity leave so not commuting daily as I normally would) the bike has been consistently unreliable, and this clearly isn't so unexpected for them that they were able to offer me any money back for it at this point. I expected and hoped for better.

This is a great little shop with very friendly and super helpful staff. I broke the screw that holds my seat onto the post, and it turns out this is a very hard part to replace. They found me the perfect screw just like that, when several other area shops did nothing except tell me how hopeless it was. Cant recommend this shop enough!

Couldn't of been happier with the service for my partners bike to get her road safe again. Not only were the problems fixed but I had a great explanation of how it all worked and learned a little something too. The parts needed were added to the service cost which is just like it is when getting your motor MOT. I will return with my very soon! Great job BB!
