A huge THANK YOU to Jake for the very sympathetic restoration of my late Father-in-Laws desk. Breathe taking. I recommend Jake whole heartedly, he has a great understanding of exactly what is needed.

Gibson and Radford restored a George II walnut bureau for us and I was delighted at the results and reliability together with attention to detail from Jake Radford. He's clearly an expert at his job and his experience combined with his professionalism was a pleasure. His prices were reasonable also! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I contacted Jake at Gibson & Radford Restorations recently for help restoring an old, very rustic oak gateleg table. It wasn't fancy or valuable, but Jake was very happy to come and take a look. First of all, he was obviously very knowledgeable as he examined the table and explained its likely age, pointing out where and how it had been repaired in the past, and generally painting a fascinating picture of this unassuming little table's history over, possibly, the last three centuries. Jake then suggested a restoration strategy that would be sympathetic to its age and character, while at the same time undertaking some repairs and strengthening work, and attempting to reduce a very large and visible stain or watermark. Jake returned the table to me today, after just a week, and I'm so delighted with the result. The large stain has completely vanished, the table is much more solid - but without obvious signs of his repairs - and the greasy, waxy polish that spoiled its appearance previously (my bad!) is gone, replaced with a lovely, glowing beeswax finish. The table still shows its age and character, complete with a few scars, but that's all part of its story, and Jake has been totally sympathetic to that. This work will hopefully see the table last another 100 years! Completely recommend Jake's services - his skills are a rare commodity these days.
